Plant Manager
Salary: $100K-$150K  Bonus:20%
Location: Elgin, IL

Job Description:

  • The Plant manager position develops and implements optimal, cost effective manufacturing processes and methods in accordance with product specifications and quality standards; recommends and implements improvements to production processes, methods and controls; coordinates manufacturing launch for new or revises products. Leads and actively manages all Plant personnel and contract labor.
  • Responsibilities:
  • Provide overall leadership to all site employees, focusing on safety, quality, production and cost. Oversee and direct all plant activities and functions
  • Provide direction, development and leadership to direct reports
  • Assign responsibility for tasks and decisions; monitor progress and measure work
  • Build a strong, effective, high performing team
  • Assess team make-up, placing the right people in the right positions
  • Serve as a mentor and coach, helping employees succeed, grow and develop
  • Improve performance through coaching and feedback; implementing progressive discipline steps when necessary and appropriate
  • Foster a culture and work atmosphere that creates strong morale, open communication, empowerment and accountability
  • Coordinate all aspects of production and related departments (quality control, maintenance, finance, planning, inventory control, engineering) to meet production demands in an efficient and cost-effective manner
  • Support corporate strategy and direction, implementing measures to accomplish goals and objectives
  • Optimize labor and other resources to maximize efficiency and productivity
  • Establish and monitor overall plant performance for production and quality standards
  • Ensure overall plant and employee safety
  • Address problems that arise, identify and implement solutions
  • Ensure preventative maintenance of equipment; schedule and coordinate as needed
  • Ensure compliance of food safety and GMP standards
  • Provides the necessary resources to ensure the required food safety and quality training for site personnel is provided
  • Report food safety or food quality issues that arise, prevent issues when possible
  • Ensure the necessary tools and supplies are readily available to support structural GMP compliance
  • Ensure an effective sanitation program is implemented and executed
  • Review Pest Control Reports and meet with PCO weekly to ensure compliance with company pest control policy and expectations.
  • Drive continuous improvement and project efforts
  • Understand and incorporate continuous improvement methodologies
  • Drive continuous improvement through the efficient use of resources (facilities, equipment, and people)
  • Encourage and support new ideas and approaches to solve day to day challenges and key business issues
  • Supports internal and external customer needs through continuous improvement, innovation, project execution and capital expenditure process

 
Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • 10 plus years manufacturing experience food industry, dairy processing experience required
  • 7 years of experience in a supervisory or management role, with at least 3 years of experience in a senior leadership role, with supervisors as direct reports.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Good conflict management and problem solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail and focus on accuracy
  • Ability to lead by example (demonstrate strong work ethic, positive attitude, etc.)
